Dupuytren’s contracture is a gradual thickening and tightening of tissue under the skin in the hand. The most commonly involved fingers are the ring and small fingers. Over time, Dupuytren’s contracture causes the fingers to be pulled into flexion into the palm. This can result in difficulty in performing everyday activities. Treatment typically includes medication and surgery when the condition becomes painful or interferes with daily activities.
